I never thought about it before one fateful day. The way the things work in those absolutes. The oddness of the opposites, and the revelation of seeing someone you have heard about so often. I never thought about it, and now I think it might have been for the best.
The Damon bloodline was always thought to be a proud line. But you soon realize other wise. As a matter of fact, the more you see them, and the more you interact with them, they are a creepy people. I have had the ability to room with Jesse in the past semester, and again we share an apartment on the USI campus. His random noises and the sheer volume of mindless dribble, which pours from the hole in the middle of his face is upsetting. Jeremy also lives within the city. He now lives in an apartment with his wife, Heather. She fits in well. Still, the best was indeed saved for last.
I had recently met the eldest of the Damon children. Adam. We had the venture to his estate on a Saturday. We decided to leave at 6:30pm. The trip is not too long, about the time and distance we traverse to reach Lawrenceburg. Four hours. However, under the gentle guidance of Wes and Jesse, we manage to take a four hour trip in a measly six hours.
Amazing how it happened. The roads seemed to conspire against us. The road we were traveling changed without warning, and the signs even lied to us. That managed to add an hour. Regardless of our follies, we did in fact manage the trip. And when we arrived, I have never seen a more…interesting sight.
We were greeted by Sarah. An associate of Adam’s and a generally good person. Perhaps a little too good. She has too many morals. But I suppose there is a reason she works for “children”. Of course Adam does as well, however I am sure he does it for the stories. I have respect for that. His stories are excellent and believable. Still as much as I was hypnotized by the stories of our dear Adam, an event which occurred later that night, I will never forget. The pseudo-Gary.
An abomination so horrible, I cannot sleep. It haunts me. A doppelganger of our Gary. Slightly taller, and with thinner hair, but the same in all other respects. His build, and the hair style. Even the shirt he wore was the Dragonball Z shirt Gary is renown for. He even moved and talked in a familiar manner, and he seemed to have interests akin to Le Gary. Knowing the thing could not be allowed to live, I slew it in the back yard with a knife. After he gave Adam the Sake.
The back yard was nice. It was very large, and surrounded by a farm owned by their landlord. Along side the gravel drive to the barn housing various farming equipment, there is a propane tank, and wood used in fires set in the cement fire pit, used to cook cheese filled hot dogs, which shiver up and resemble things best left in an old man’s pants. The house itself was charming in its respects. It was an older house, which was never really updated, but occasionally repaired. The house was also large. Huge really. It was mostly hard wood flooring, and well placed windows allowing remarkable ventilation.
We visited there because it was Adam’s birthday. We enjoyed ourselves with various recreational…things. They played poker, as they said they usually do. But I would not know. We talked, and just enjoyed the company of one another. The weather was nice while we were there. As the night went on it started to rain, and the wind was nice. Still, after the relaxing, and when morning started to come, those still left there went inside to watch the movie Equilibrium. An excellent movie. Very 1984’ish.
Overall the thrill of actually meeting the infamous Adam, the man of legend, was great. The day ended very well as we went to Denny’s and topped the experience off. They have good hamburgers. And waitresses with horrible dental hygiene. Perhaps, one day the elusive Adam will come back from the depths of north fucks-ville in the middle of nowhere. Gravel road my ass…
